January 2003
What's up in February?
In February we have a group of 54 (mostly adults) coming from Illinois.
This group will be working with two pastors in Matamoros. Pastor Carlos Gonzalez
and pastor Ruben Rubio. Ruben Rubio is part of the first graduating class (1998) of our
Bible Institute in Matamoros, Mexico. Isn't that so amazing!!! He has been pastoring
a church in Matamoros for two years. They started the church in a home, then a tent,
and now they have a church building with about 30 regular members. Pastor Ruben Rubio
told me this week that he is making plans to start another church in a colonia nearby.
He already has a couple from his church meeting with kids in that colonia once a week.
The group from Illinois will be building them a small church building (20X20) when
they come down in February. Please pray for this new church plant.
VBS Curriculum - Jennifer
Well, it's time again to write more kids' curriculum!!! Thankfully, I have a wonderful
partner to work with me. Her name is Angie. She recently moved here to Harlingen with
her husband and four kids to work with AIM. She has done a lot of work with children
and is just so great! Our current deadline is March 3rd. We have a lot of work to do
and need your prayers. Because these lessons are used in more than 10 countries, we
are praying a lot about the content and really need your support. The best part of
this is knowing that the Holy Spirit can use whatever we write to bring children to
Him.
Mexican pastors
Since Adventures In Missions started working in Mexico one of our goals has been to
build strong relationships with the local pastors. To this day we have worked with
about 50 pastors. Our goal has been to partner with them as we bring in groups of
North American believers. Our goal has been to help build the Mexican churches, not
only the building but also body the of believers as well. We are so thankful to God
for allowing us to work with these pastors. Together we are working to bring the
Gospel of Jesus to the Mexican people of Matamoros and Reynosa. (see pictures)
Christmas in the Caribbean's
This year the Gonzalez family spent Christmas in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico
visiting family and spending time at the beach, riding horses (see picture) visiting
the castle called El Morro and visiting the Calvary Chapel church in Puerto Rico. The
last time Daddy, Mommy and Katie were in Puerto Rico was about 9 years ago. This was
Hannah's first time. Since both girls are now older (6 and 9), they were better able
to meet our family. The girls loved riding horses and making huge holes at the beach.
Cesar's loved visiting family he had not seen for many years. Jennifer's loved
drinking a strawberry daiquiri (non-alcoholic) on the beach while inside the "swimming
pool" that the family had just made in the sand.
Cesar Jr., Cesar III & Cesar Arnaldo
Did you know that we have three men in our family named Cesar? Yes. Cesar's dad is
Cesar Jr. and Cesar's half brother is Cesar Arnaldo. During our trip to Puerto Rico
we were able to snap a picture of the three of them together. (see picture) It was
funny when Jennifer called out - "Cesar", the guys turned around at the same time.
Ephesians 1:2
"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."
Thank You for All Your Prayers and Support!!!
