january 2006 newsletter
Hi, Well, we are back from support raising in California. We had a great trip. We were able to see a lot of friends and had fun catching up with
them. It's amazing to watch God provide for our needs. We had lots of meetings and were able to share our ministry with friends using two power
point presentations. Cesar loves all the high tech stuff and I have to admit it's fun. It really did help us share more about the specifics of
our work here in Mexico. We also ended the year financially in the black and were very grateful. It's great to hear some of the testimonies from
the people who give. For example, did you know your prayers can affect the stock market? Well, evidently they do. One of our supporters did
exceptionally well in the stock market and sent a very large check into our AIM account. Sometimes God moves in really mysterious ways!
There were also sometimes that life got a little crazy. One day Jennifer had a dentist appointment scheduled on the same day as a meeting with
some people from our church who pray for missionaries. I went to the dentist thinking it would take about an hour, but as Dr. Dave Osborne started
numbing me up I just got this sinking feeling. He fitted me for a crown (quite an adventure) fixed a cracked tooth and filled two cavities.
(OK so it had been a while since I'd seen him last) When he was finished I drove over to meet Cesar, who I assumed was finished with the meeting.
Boy, was I wrong. I walked into the room with more than half of my face sinking to the floor and drooling all over myself. Then, I heard the
dreaded words, "Jennifer we have just enough time for you to come up and give us an update." "Well, sure" I said, in my delirious state. I stood
up there trying to give them an update on our ministry and just laughed the entire time. Most of the people in the audience were elderly and may
not have heard everything I said in normal circumstances. Cesar just about fell out of his seat wishing for a video camera to take it all in
on film. They definitely skipped this part of support-raising in the books. Oh, well I learned a little more humility and Cesar got a good
laugh.
We also had some fun time as a family. We went up in the aerial tramway at Palm Springs that takes you from 2000 feet to 8000 feet. There was
a lot of snow at the top and we had a great time making our first snowman and having snowball fights. Cesar's mom went with us too. It was
great!
Currently we are at home adjusting to our new schedule. Cesar is working on the many upcoming projects. Also, we started
home- schooling Katie and it's going great! She is just so responsible and it's fun watching her learn new things and just spending more
time with her. She is growing up fast.
Thank you so much for all of your prayers. It really does change things. Here are a few prayer requests:
1 - Pray for Cesar as he sets up the new projects including AIM's biggest project--Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. They bring 250 students and leaders.
It is a large group to accommodate. Please pray for wisdom as Cesar chooses the areas of ministry and the families who will receive houses.
2 - Pray for Jennifer for wisdom in home-schooling. We are still very much in the early stages of figuring out what works best and being willing
to change what doesn't.
3 - Pray for courage for support-raising. We need to raise more per month and just need courage.
